The Seychelles Islands - It's a paradise!

Seychelles’ 115 granite and coral islands extend from between 4 and 10 degrees south of the equator and lie between 480km and 1,600km from the east coast of Africa in the western Indian Ocean.

Seychelles is a living museum of natural history and a sanctuary for some of the rarest species of flora & fauna on earth.

The beaches in Seychelles are of course the most popular attraction of the islands.

The pyramids of Giza, are among the most recognizable symbols of the civilization of ancient Egypt. The three pyramids are located 5 miles inland into the desert from the old town of Gyza on the Nile, 15 miles southwest of Cairo city center.

Port El Kantaoui is a purpose built Holiday Resort on the Northern Coast of Tunisia in North Africa. It is situated just a few kilometers North of Sousse, Tunisia's second largest City after the Capital Tunis.

It was built in 1979 with a modern 300 Yacht capacity Marina as its focal point. In recent years this Marina has become a popular mooring location for the rich and famous undertaking their Mediterranean Cruises and the Marina here is said to rival those long established Marinas of Nice and Marbella on the Southern Coast of Europe. It is now also Tunisia's most popular Holiday Resort.

Marina at Port El Kantaoui is very pretty. During the daytime this area is bustling with people, which are a mixture of both Tourists and locals. All around the Marina there are a number of Café style Bars, Restaurants and Gift Shops.

Port El Kantaoui is a prestigious Mediterranean yacht marina. We stayed at the El Hana Hannibal Palace which leads directly to this yacht marina and even to a private sandy beach. The Hannibal Palace is designed in the Arabian-Moorish style. We had a very large room overlooking a private garden.

We found the Tunisian people are so warm and hospitable. They instantly welcome you as one of their own and treat you like family. They will offer you the clothes off their back without a second thought or expectation of being repaid. If you are lucky enough to dine with a Tunisian family, be sure that they will prepare a feast that is the best they can within their means. They will offer you the biggest and best portions of all foods.

Besides Arabic they all speak French and English.

Ahlan wa Sahlan "Welcome" to Morocco - is a country located in North Africa. The capital is Rabat, and the largest city is Casablanca.

Casablanca is a beautiful city, located on the Atlantic Ocean; it is a modern, clean, safe, and friendly city. Of course, what attracted us most due to its unique architecture was the mosque of Hassan II. The biggest mosque in the world, it is worth spending time to go and visit.

The city of Marrakesh, once you arrive in this beautiful, exotic Moroccan city, you will soon find a lot of reasons to stay for several days or even for weeks. Starting from its friendly locals, mouth-watering local cuisines, breathtaking palaces, mosques, and madrases to the wide selections of products and goodies offered in the city's famous souk markets. Buying products of the nature is great fun in Marrakesh, and most of the shops specializing in everything from gourmet dates to humdrum henna have the kilo prices clearly marked. For many tourist with haggling fatigue, this is a relief. And few of these vendors seem to allow you to walk away with the wrong product, and openly invite you to taste before you buy. You won't have to walk far before the first great offers on carpets come your way. Moroccan carpets are available in different styles, some of indigenous patterns and techniques (these are the best!!!), while others are of imported style. The carpets you see here are all typical Moroccan, even if they might remind the foreign visitor of carpets of other countries. Prices are OK, but there is a lot of mint tea drinking, wagging, wringing, head shaking, sighing and smiling to be done before you reach the price level where you could say that you really did a good deal.

Zanzibar and Other Islands

Zanzibar and other islands, off the east coast of Africa, were initially controlled by Arab traders, the Portuguese, and then Omani sultans.

We found Zanzibar to be an extraordinary island with a surprise around every corner and breathtakingly beautiful beaches and reefs. Many locals are magnificent cabinet makers and we had the privilege of watching them at work carving replicas of the massive ancient brass-studded doors that adorn every doorway. It was fascinating to learn that the purpose of these carvings, which were introduced centuries ago, was to enable the occupants to advertise their trade or occupation. A fisherman had fish carvings on his door; a farmer had vegetables or flowers, and so on.

Mafia Island: is a wonderful little island at the center of the largest marine park in East Africa. It is a real sleepy backwater, a remnant of the old Swahili coast and the place to visit for a reminder of how Zanzibar was thirty years ago.

The island of PEMBA is a remote, untouched paradise of clove plantations, traditional villages, broad sandy beaches and superb marine life. This is the place to come if you are into hiking, sailing, fishing and especially diving.

Tanga is an important port on the Indian Ocean, near the border with Kenya. Tanga is also the ideal place to get a dhow to Pemba Island, north of Zanzibar.

Dar es Salaam yacht club did offer various activities such as sailing, diving, fishing, snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. As well as regular discos and events through the year, some the sponsored events were connected with sailing or fishing.

Oyster Bay and Kunduchi, Tanzania

Oyster Bay and Kunduchi are both attractive beaches in Tanzania. Oyster Bay is the closest swimming beach to the centre of Dar es Salaam. It's fairly attractive and extremely popular on weekends. There is one good nearby eatery; the Oyster Bay Hotel, which overlooks the beach. Kunduchi is another attractive beach, about 35 km from Dar Es Salaam. Dominated by a cluster of resorts, Kunduchi's attractiveness is somewhat decreased by the concrete piles that were placed here to combat erosion. There's a range of activities available: swimming, diving, snorkeling, water sports and fishing.(Neither Kunduchi nor Oyster Bay can compare to Bagamoyo, surely the gem of Tanzanian beach spots in terms of both beauty and atmosphere, which lies about 50 km further north along a very passable surfaced road.)

Morogoro is 190 km west of Dar es Salaam. The Uluguru Mountains form a beautiful backdrop and can be seen from everywhere in this town.

It was nice to go to the market. Women dressed in kangas, brightly colored cotton wraps, were doing their shopping, carrying baskets full of exotic fruit and vegetables.

DAR ES SALAAM: formerly Mzizima, is the largest city in Tanzania It is also the country's richest city and a regionally important economic center. Dar es Salaam is situated on a massive natural harbor on the Eastern Indian Ocean coast of Africa. The climate being situated so close to the equator and the warm Indian ocean, the city experiences generally tropical climatic conditions, typified by hot and humid weather throughout much of the year. Annual rainfall there are two distinct rainy seasons, 'the long rains' which fall during April and May, and 'the short rains' - during October and November.

Giraffes are a symbol of Tanzania. They are non-territorial and sociable, living in loose, open herds without leaders. Their peerless height and excellent eyesight enables visual contact between herd members spread over several kilometers.

The Serengeti is a region of grasslands and woodlands in Mara Region in Tanzania.

It has more than 1.6 million herbivores and thousands of predators. Blue Wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffalo are the animals most commonly found in the region.

This area is most famous for the migration that takes place every year, which is considered to be one of the seven tourist travel wonders of the world and was named by the American television show Good Morning America and newspaper USA Today as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" [1] in 2006.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest unbroken volcanic caldera. The crater is 610m deep and the floor is 260km2. The steep sides of the crater mean that it has become a natural enclosure for a very wide variety of wildlife, including most of the species found in East Africa.Aside from herds of zebra, gazelle and wildebeest, the crater is home to the "big five" of rhinoceros, lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. The crater plays host to almost every individual species of wildlife in East Africa, and there are an estimated 25,000 animals within the crater. Lake Magadi in the center of the crater is, like many in the rift valley, a soda lake supporting flocks of flamingo.

Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Kilimanjaro - Africa's highest mountain (5,895 m or 19,340 ft) is in north-eastern Tanzania, near the border with Kenya.

You can't live in Tanzania and not at least consider climbing the mountain, so we made a commitment to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Oh boy! What an amazing experience.
